[intervista] Enemy Alliance

1. Ci raccontate come sono nati gli Enemy Alliance?
Please tell to us as was born the ENEMY ALLIANCE.
(Flygare)During fall 2005, Satanic and Venerea toured together for quite a while. We did bigger part of Europe and then later Japan. During this period we had a lot of ideas to bring life into some new band with a slightly different approach. I have been wanting to focus on vocals for a long time, just as Rodrigo really wanted to go back to playing drums, not having to sing. We all played for a long time in our other bands and we felt that it would be great to create something new, with new people to avoid boredom and stagnation. We also felt that it was about time we bury the hatchet between Satanic and Venerea, long time enemies (different story). What could be a better way to do that than to join forces? So we allied with our worst enemies, and became friends in "The Enemy Alliance"

Nell'autunno del 2005, i Satanic e i Venerea hanno suonato insieme in tour, girando la maggior parte dell'Europa e in seguito il Giappone. In questo periodo è nata l'idea di creare una nuova band che avesse un approccio un po' diverso. Io era da un po' che pensavo di focalizzarmi esclusivamente sulla voce, così come Rodrigo voleva ritornare a suonare la batteria e non a cantare. Abbiamo suonato davvero per tanto tempo con le nostre vecchie band e sentivamo davvero il bisogno di creare qualcosa di nuovo e con nuove persone, per combattere la noia e la stagnazione. Sentivamo inoltre che era il momento di seppellire l'ascia di guerra tra le due band, troppo a lungo divise da rivalità. (questa è un'altra storia). Cosa ci può essere di meglio se non unire le nostre forze? Così ci siamo alleati ai nostri peggiori nemici, e siamo diventati amici negli "Enemy Alliance".

2. Secondo molti l'hardcore melodico è morto, voi cosa ne pensate?
Someone tell the melodic hardcore is dead. What do you think about???
(Flygare)I would like to say that the scen is better now than in a long time for punk and hardcore in general, not only melodic punk, but people are interested in the whole scene in general nad that's very positive.

Penso che la scena sia migliore oggi che in passato, sia quella punk che quella hardcore, e le persone sono interessate a tutto il movimento in generale, non solo al punk melodico, e questo è davvero positivo.

3. Dopo lo split con i The Indecision Alarm avete già in cantiere un album?
After this split are you already thinking about a full-lenght?
(Flygare)Of course. The goal is to put a record out early next year. We really want to take this band to the next level. E.A. is our main focus and we're taking it very seriously.

Sicuro. L'obiettivo è di pubblicare un disco all'inizio del nuovo anno. Vogliamo che questo sia il prossimo passo per la band. Siamo tutti concentrati sugli E.A., affrontando il tutto nel modo più serio possibile.

4. Quanto è importante la politica nella musica degli Enemy Alliance?
How much is the political aspect important in the music of EA?
(Flygare)Maybe there's a more visible political agenda in E.A. Lyrically. For me personally, that feels good, but we will write other stuff too. I guess you write about stuff that touches you and there's a lot of horrible things happening around us these days so for us it becomes natural to write about it.

Forse c'è un impronta politica più visibile nelle parole degli E.A. Personalmente, mi fa piacere, ma scriveremo altre cose ancora. Suppongo ti riferisca alle canzoni dello split, e ci sono un casino di cose orribili che stanno accadendo intorno a noi in questi giorni, mi sembra naturale parlarne.

5. La scena punkrock svedese sembra in ottima salute ora come dieci anni fa, è così?
The punkrock scene in Sweden appear to us in a good situation as 10 years ago, is it really like this?
(Flygare)The scene today is better than ever. In many ways we're back where we once were in Sweden. There's music festivals focusing 100% on punk/hardcore and a bigger interest in the music than in a long time. The main difference I think, is that people are more into punk in general, not just a certain sound (like skatepunk, or old school or whatever). I have a feeling that the once into the scene today also have a more genuine interest, a more long-lasting relationship to it, than in the mid 90's.

La scena oggi è la migliore di sempre. In qualche modo siamo tornati indietro, quando c'eravamo solo noi in Svezia. Ci sono festival 100% punk/hc e un interesse crescente verso la musica rispetto al passato. La più grossa differenza penso sia che le persone sono interessate al punk in generale, non solo a certe sonorità (come lo skate punk, l'old school o che ne so). Ho notato che quelli coinvolti nella scena di oggi sono coinvolti in maniera più genuina, più coinvolta che negli anni 90.

6. C'è un disco di recente uscita che state ascoltando e che consigliate ai nostri lettori?
Is there a recent release that you are listening and that you want suggest to us?
(Flygare) Right now I listen alot to Killing Time, a NY hardcore band active in the late 80's, and the new Madball-cd. The latest Lemonheads album is pretty cool too.

Proprio ora sto ascoltando tantissimo i Killing Time, una hc band di New York attiva dalla fine degli anni 80, e l'ultimo cd dei Madball. Anche l'ultimo dei Lemonheads è veramente figo!

7. Quando potremo vedervi dal vivo in Italia?
When could we see you in Italy???
(Flygare) In november. Check our myspace for dates! See you there!
